Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 1:
Design your room around one theme. Focusing on one theme can help cut down on the amount of room decor you have to use. Many people buy and buy and buy, because they find one more great item they can put in the room. (Even if it dose not match!)
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 2:
Utilize "stuff" you already have. If you are decorating with a theme, (you are using a theme right?), your kid probably already has a ton of "accessories" that go with the theme. For example, sports theme, display team jerseys, hang a shelf and set pictures of his ball team or ballgame highlights on it. That basketball setting in the corner is now part of the room decor! Use the "stuff" they already have instead of buying new decor.
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 3:
Check out your local stores for their "clearance isle or corners". This is a great place to find some real bargains.
However, only buy it if it will fit your design.
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 4:
Paint the room. It takes a little work, but paint is fairly cheap. This is money well spent. It can change the room drastically. (Try something creative, for example "faux finish", "sponge paint".)
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 5:
Add a wallpaper boarder. Boarders are easy to apply and inexpensive. A cool way to carry a rooms theme.
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 6:
Track down a really cool bedding set. There are lots of choices and may at affordable prices. This is the place to get it just right. The right bedding set will set the tone of the whole room. (It is called the "bedroom".) LOL
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 7:
Time to hit the thrift stores. Never under estimate what you can find at a thrift store. Decor, decor, and more decor. The best part? You can get if for not a lot of money!
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 8:
Do not over look a really great yard sale. What is the old saying? "One mans trash is another mans treasure." It truly is amazing the great finds you can get to decorate a theme kids bedroom. A few dollars saved here, will allow you to use your money some were else.
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 9:
Looking for a real design statement? Take the money you have saved from being a "frugal" shopper and purchase a large theme based wall sticker or mural. They can really make a theme room sing. (Many can be purchased for not a lot of money.) I like to use large murals, because they are often cheaper than buying several small room decor items. The impact can be huge.
Affordable Bedroom Design Tip 10:
Utilize posters. Posters?? Yes, a framed poster is a way to add large artwork without spending a ton of money. They come in almost any theme you can imagine.
These kids bedroom ideas can help you become the Design Guru, and still keep a little cash in your designer purse!
